How AI interpreting works in the hall

The stage microphone runs through our mixing desk to KADENZ. KADENZ recognises the speech, translates it simultaneously and speaks each language on its own radio channel. Your guests select the channel on their receiver.

  • Original audio, interpretation, reception

KADENZ takes the original audio straight from the mixing desk. Each language has its own channel with a calm, matter-of-fact voice from ElevenLabs. The translation follows the speech about five seconds behind. Anyone who understands the speaker’s language simply listens to the room.

  • Booths for your own team

Eventforum has interpreting booths with Televic equipment and a view of the stage. If you bring your own team of interpreters, they work there. With KADENZ, the booths stay empty. Both run through the same system and the same receivers.

  • Receivers for your guests

At the entrance, your guests receive a receiver and choose the channel for their language. 40 receivers are available.

When KADENZ, when your own team?

Eventforum rents out the booths, the system and the receivers. KADENZ now interprets on request; your own team of interpreters works in our booths. We do not provide interpreters.

AI interpreting costs only a fraction of an interpreting team. In both cases you rent the system with booths and receivers as well.

Why we developed KADENZ ourselves

The widely used AI translation tools run on the guests’ phones. We wanted a solution that fits our system. The sound comes straight from the mixing desk, each language has its own radio channel, guests receive a receiver at the entrance, and our technician looks after the event.

  • Recognition, translation and voice are separate building blocks. If a better service comes along, we swap it in.
  • Before every new version, more than 160 automated checks run. In our own tests, the translation followed the speech 4.6 to 4.9 seconds behind.
  • The voices come from ElevenLabs. For each language we choose a calm, matter-of-fact voice.
  • You get the hall, the technology and the interpreting from one contract partner in Bern.

What happens to the audio and text

The recording with audio, transcript and glossary stays on our computer in the hall for as long as agreed with you. On request, we record nothing.

For recognition, translation and voice, KADENZ uses specialised services. Which ones, in which countries they process data and for how long is set out in the data protection sheet under Swiss data protection law. You receive it with the quote. ElevenLabs, which provides the voices, is certified under the Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.

KADENZ is not intended for classified content.
